Sustainable design solutions serve to minimize environmental impact while offering significant financial and aesthetic benefits. Baer Architecture strives to incorporate these alternatives whenever practically possible.

Whether building certification is a project requirement due to State or City law, or a goal set by the owner or board of trustees, our staff has the experience and technical expertise to deliver a responsive, sustainable solution to any design challenge. We have been practicing sustainable design longer and with greater passion than many of our peers. Since 1995, Brian Baer, is one of the leaders in the industry and has been incorporating sustainable design elements and practicum in his projects.

We believe strongly that there is more than one solution for each problem. While there are nationally recognized guidelines, there are others that we employ in arriving at the appropriate response to the project at hand.

Energy efficiency, while an important factor in sustainable design, is not the primary goal of ours. Our primary goal is to create a solution that utilizes a low life-cycle assembly for the lifespan of the building. We define “low life cycle” by:

bullet What resource does it takes to harvest the raw materials for the end product.
bullet  What is the process the manufacturer uses to create the product.
bullet  How much energy it takes to transport the material to the distributor and then to the project site.
bullet  How difficult is it for the contractor to install the product.
bullet How much time, materials and resources does it take for the owner and/or end-user to operate and maintain the material/assembly.
bullet What is the anticipated replacement time of the material/assembly.
